www.kabudwand.com Mohammed Sadigh Kabudvand is a journalist; his weapon is his writings, his books, his magazines, his reports, and his organization which is a pioneer human rights organization in Iranian Kurdistan. He is known as the father of human rights in Kurdistan. His organization aimed to encourage and to teach respect for human rights and to develop friendly relations between Iranian people based on equality before the law. Mr Kabudvand is a prisoner of conscious, kept in prison only for having peacefully exercised his rights to freedom of expression and association and dedicating his organization to the defence of human rights in Iranian Kurdistan. Mr Kabudvand's long and peaceful struggle for fundamental human rights and democracy has cost him, his health and his freedom but he has never given up. Kabudvand has been charged and convicted for acting against national security through establishing the human rights organization of Kurdistan, spreading propaganda against the regime by circulating news, opposing the Islamic penal code by openly criticizing penalties such as stoning and hanging and his support of political prisoners. The normal human rights monitoring and advocacy activities, which are not crimes based on Iranian law, were cited as evidences supporting the charges against kabudvand including advocating for equal rights of women and men or communicating with the secretary General and high commissioners of the United nations. The Human rights organization of Kurdistan was not operating illegally as it was claimed during the trial. None of its activities cited as evidences against kabudvand were shown to be threats to the national security of Iran. These activities are all parts and parcels of the professional obligation of human rights defenders. Mr Kabudvand is well known to the international community organizations including amnesty International, European union and UN. K received a Hellmen award for writers subjected to harassment from human rights watch in 2009. He also was awarded as the international journalist of the year by British Press award in 2009.
