Complete Beginners Guide to Linux Network Configuration - GUI & Easy! The Complete Beginners Guide to Linux Network Configuration in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 - GUI & Easy! If you don't have GNOME desktop environment already installed on your system, if you are using for example "Minimal Install" - please install group of packages "Server with GUI" first. Once "Server with GUI" group of packages will be installed - you can start GNOME desktop environment with startx command. To verify available groups of packages run command: yum grouplist To install "Server with GUI" group of packages run: yum groupinstall "Server with GUI" To start installed desktop environment - use startx command startx Network window to set up or modify network settings can be accessed from multiple locations: 1) Applications - System Tools - Settings - Network 2) Ethernet Port icon in gnome-panel - Wired - Wired Settings 3) Ethernet Port icon in gnome-panel - All Settings icon - Network 4) Press Super key (Windows key/Command key) to go to Activities overview - type network into search field You can set up or modify network configuration in Network window. Work in Network window is very intuitive. You can set up more NetworkManager connection profiles per one network interface and you can quickly swap between various connection profiles (activate/deactivate NetworkManager connection) in Network window. In Network window you can set up Automatic (DHCP) or Manual (Static) network configuration - IP address, netmask, default gateway, set up primary DNS server and secondary DNS server. You can also set appropriate name to every NetworkManager connection profile, configure NetworkManager connection profile to activate automatically (after reboot or if another connection profile was deactivated) and many other settings.
