This course is about Kafka Streams programming which is mainly available in Java. So, you must be familiar with the Java programming language. I am not assuming you to be a Java expert who knows Java Enterprise Edition, but you must be comfortable with core Java language features and at least standard Java libraries. We will be using some additional Java libraries such as Jackson data bind, but I will cover some details about other library usages. Kafka streams API is designed to work with Java 8 lambda functions. However, Java 7 syntax is also supported. I will show you both the methods, but most of the examples would be using Java 8 lambda. If you are not familiar with Java 8 Lambda, nothing to worry, I will give you enough details to catch up with the examples. I will be using Maven, Log4J, and JUnit in this course. These are all standard tools for Java programmers. I am assuming that you are familiar with these tools as well, but if you are a Java beginner, nothing to worry. In fact, this course will help you to grow your Java knowledge as well. Other than Java knowledge, you need a PC or a laptop to work with the examples. You can work on Windows, Mac or Linux. There is not much difference in terms of the operating system, because most of the time, we will be working inside the IDE. I will be using IntelliJ IDEA community edition as an IDE for all the examples. IntelliJ IDEA is freely available, and you can download and install it on your computer. Don't worry about the details, I will show you step by step process for setting up your development environment. Great! So what are you waiting for? Join the course, right now, right here. Keep learning and Keep growing.
