The work of Oxman and her group combines computation, robotics, materials engineering, and synthetic biology. This video depicts Mushtari, part of the Wanderers, An Astrobiological Exploration series, which was created in 2014 with Stratasys. It depicts a series of 3D-printed, wearable, synthetic organ systems where Oxman imagines seeding printed internal capillaries with microorganisms that could digest biological waste and hydrocarbons, enabling human survival on distant planets.
