In this hand tool rescue, I took the drill apart and cleaned it. First I dry brush off any dirt and oil, then I brush again with diluted soap. I cleaned the unpainted metal parts using a Wire Brush, then Sandpaper and Wire Wool. Instead of making the Drill look brand new, I wanted it to still keep some of it's character. I cleaned the Chuck and then sanded the Wooden Handles before coating them in Boiled Linseed Oil. The original Body colour was Dark Green and I had Metal Enamel Paint to match. I needed to buy Enamel Paint to match the Orange parts and it was close enough. The Drill is comfortable and operates really well. I will use it for years to come. I plan to restore all of the tools I found and create some woodworking projects to show that you do not need new tools, but only some basic tools that can be restored or renovated. I like the idea of making my own Tools, especially if it is a Tool that is not easily found or readily available. Handmade Tools give great satisfaction and for me it is fun knowing that I created something to help me better improve my woodworking experience.
