This is the Third video in a short 4 part series on tying Jig flies for ultra light spin gear. When I first got into fly fishing and tying, I quickly and fully embraced the tying aspect, because to me, there is nothing more satisfying than catching fish on lures that you make yourself....NOTHING! Because my casting and presentations struggled in the "fly fishing" department for many years, I often times tied jig flies instead and have numerous years of success catching everything from Brooktrout, to big Carp, and Chunky Walleyes in both stillwater and rivers. The goal with this video series is to equip Spin anglers with the opportunity to create there own jigs. The series focuses on 4 different forage profiles: Baitfish (part 1), Buggers which include dragon fly nymphs, helgramites, and large stoneflies (part 2), Crawfish (part 3), and lastly Leeches (part 4). Each video part focuses on using bare minimum materials from a simple Saddle, to a Pheasant Skin, and lastly some Rabbit zonkers.....and that's about it! For everyone who Spin fishes and is interested in tying up your own jigs, I hope this gives you a head start and helps you find success right off the bat. As the 2020 fishing season approaches, check back in for a handful of fishing videos for some On-the-water insights! Part 3 - Crawfish I think the need for a crawfish imitation is self explanatory....all you need to now is fish eat them like no tomorrow! There are however a lot of complex ways to go about tying a crawfish imitation and I wanted to break it down into is simplest and easiest form. The only material needed for this fly is a Pheasant Cape and a small pack of Accent Flash (antennas), that's it! Materials: Hook: 1/16oz RZ Jig from Northland Fishing Tackle Thread: .006 Danville Mono Pheasant Cape Bump: Junk Pheasant Feathers Claws: Pheasant Rump Feathers (Short) Mouth parts and Legs: Long Pheasant Rump Legs: Pheasant Rump - Get shorter towards Jig head (Tail of crawfish) My Website: https://www.streamersbygunnar.com
