Whether you just want your braid to look thicker or you’re trying to mimic an ethereal character, this triple braid concoction will give it to you. While we’re not promising that every length of hair can pull it off, we promise it’s easy enough for all skill levels to achieve. It may look intricate and complicated (that was the goal!) but with only a topsy tail and three braids involved, it’s actually very simple. All you’ll need are four clear elastics, and maybe some texturizing spray or hairspray for grip and texture. FOLLOW THESE STEPS: Take the top section of hair—don’t make it too thick—on each side of your head and secure loosely in the back with a clear elastic (Goody Latex Hair Elastics, $5; amazon.com). Flip this ponytail inside itself to create a topsy tail. Divide all of your hair into three sections—making sure to include the length of the topsy tail in the middle section. Braid each of the three sections into a basic three-strand braid and secure with a clear elastic. It’s okay if the braids are different sizes, this adds depth to the braids. Spritz each braid with a texturizing spray (Oribe Texturizing Spray, $46; neimanmarcus.com) and gently tug a little to make them wider.
