I need your help with Asko dishwasher troubleshooting. The F1 error code means there is a water heating fault. One possibility is that the heating element in the dishwasher is broken, another is the water coming in is way too cold, and the third is that the thermostat is defective. I’d like to know what it actually is, before I let someone replace multiple parts hoping to replace it. Make sure the house has hot water, and if so, turn on the hot water by the sink, and once it is warm, run the unit. If it still says F1, you know the thermostat or dishwasher heating element is the problem. Both of which are costly to replace. Not as much as a control board. But if you run it and steam pours out when you open in the dry cycle, you know it is the thermostat. What does F2 mean? That means the water level is too high. It may mean the water pump broke, or the water inlet valve is letting too much in, or the drain is clogged. A drain clog is at least something I can check myself. It’s just not something I want to clean out myself. If you open up the door and water’s still pouring in, you know the inlet valve is the problem. What does F3 mean? That’s the error code for the thermistor fault. Either the thermistor is malfunctioning or the wiring to it is. At least I know it is electrical. At least you know Asko is one of the dishwashers recalled for catching fire. F4 means there is a problem with the water fill. I thought we already discussed a dishwasher not draining. F4 means there’s water in the tray under the dishwasher. That can come from a leak in the dishwasher motor housings, the tub itself, the drain hose or even the door. That really does not narrow it down. What do I do about it? Clean up the water, make sure the float isn’t broken, and if it isn’t, test the dishwasher again with the lower access panel removed. Then watch for leaks. Where is the drain hose? The drain hose needs to be run to the top of the underside of the counter top and then to the drain. If it isn’t, that may be the source of the overflow. I used to play the game pipe dream as a kid, but this is turning into a nightmare. So turn off the water to the dishwasher and call for service.
