Today, when we load a flintlock muzzleloader, most of us use a short-starter to force the ball and patch into the bore before we use a ramrod to fully seat the ball on the powder charge. But, in the 18th century, short-starters were virtually unknown. In order to seat the ball using just the pressure of the ramrod, many early rifles had coned muzzles, where the inside of the barrel is cone-shaped, allowing the patched bullet to gradually conform to the tight bore. In this video, I'll show you how to cone a rifle barrel. If you enjoy this video, please support the channel on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/Duelist
