How can we know if the cost of love is worth is? Writer and performer Haley McGee was on the phone with her credit card company, promising to pay her bill by having a yard sale, when she realised the only items she could sell were all gifts from her various ex-boyfriends. What followed was a year-long exploration of the cost of love. Haley consulted with experts, interviewed her exes, worked with mathematician to create a formula that translates sentimental value into cold, hard cash and performed an autobiographical play about the process. In this talk Haley chronicles this journey and reveals what can be gleaned from applying mathematics to heartache.
