In 2008, Traveler's Tales, known for its many LEGO games, tried to release a high-budget blockbuster for the Lord of the Rings universe. This was stated by the founder of the company, John Burton (Jon Burton) in his new video. At that time, Warner Bros. announced the work on the film adaptation of The Hobbit, led by Peter Jackson (Peter Jackson). The team wanted to convince the publisher to release a new game, for which he created a demo with locations from The Lord of the Rings. About one million dollars was spent on its production. In total, the developers prepared 4 full levels and technical demonstrations. In the video below, you can see 2 stealth episodes with Frodo, the battle of Gandalf with Saruman and Balrog, as well as several other scenes familiar to fans. In February 2009, Burton flew to New Zealand to show a demonstration to Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro. Filmmakers liked the idea of making an action movie of this level, but Warner Bros. was against it - the company wanted a game in the universe, but not an adaptation of The Hobbit. As a result, the project was not given the green light.
