Blog video about this project: https://youtu.be/EkwOAUDdf0A Step-by-step instructions: Items required: Multimeter, 20 V DC Thermocouple thermometer Variable power supply with adjustible voltage and current limits of 10-20 V and 3-5 A 3-10 A dummy load (24 V halogen bulbs, or 2 car headlamps in series will work if you don't have a proper constant current load at your disposal) Stopwatch 1: Check cell voltages, confirm that there's no dead cells, all stick pairs should be over 14,3 V 2: Set lab power supply to 18 V, 3-5 A current limit and charge each stick pair until temp reaches 40 C 3: Discharge at 3-10 A until voltage is 10,8 V, and use stopwatch to note the time. DO NOT DISCHARGE UNDER 10,8 V! 4: Allow to cool to 30 C or lower 5: Recharge with the lab power supply at the same settings as before, until temp reaches 40 C, then terminate charge 6: Repeat steps 2-5 one to four times, until capacity stops increasing Good luck!
