Lisa Gade reviews the new Pro version of the Gear Fit 2 fitness band and smartwatch. The Gear Fit 2 Pro has a more secure band, is water proof to 50 meters and it’s available in two sizes and colors. The $199 band runs Samsung’s Tizen OS 3.0 and handles notifications from your phone (Android and iOS supported but the updated iOS app won’t be available until Sept. 30, 2017). It has a 1.5” AMOLED Gorilla Glass 3 touch screen, vibrate, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi, a music player with 4GB storage and offline Spotify playback (if you have a Spotify premium account). The Gear Fit 2 Pro has a GPS with GLONASS, exercise tracking including swimming, a heart rate monitor and comes with 1 year premium subscriptions to MyFitnessPal and Endomondo. If you find Android Wear 2.0 watches too bulky or expensive and the Apple watch too pricey, this is worth a look.
