Jeter 3000th Hit 3D Tribute

A 3D tribute to Derek Jeter's 3000th hit. www.brian-walters.com The crowd consists of over 32,000 individual people on 32 different animation tracks. No external plugins such as massive were used. The animation is achieved through a complex combination of morph targets. No rigs or bones required. Each member of the crowd is 40 polygons and can be viewed with dimension from all angles. They respond to all LW lighting techniques. The batter's swing is hand animated while the pitcher is me in a mocap suit at Hollow4D Studios. The players in the field were mocapped using an XBOX Kinect in my living room. I modeled and textured everything in the scene from scratch (Stadiums, street, crowd, cars, ect) with the exception of the distant background city buildings. The Jeter and Price models were derived from the 'James' model on Content Paradise. Completed and rendered in Lightwave 9.6 Composited in AE CS3.
