The three plugins that we will see today are three equalizers that were free at some point such as Soundtoys Sie-Q (Siemens) and Overloud GEM EQ 550 (API) and in the case of the third one, Shattered Glass Audio Code RED is still free. Our reasoning is that these plugins have been built to simulate both the frequency curves and the characteristics of the analogical distortion of the original hardware, therefore if we increase the input signal until passing the point where the developer placed the internal 0 of the plugin we will be able to simulate what would happen when we saturated the original hardware without general digital clipping in our DAW or AD converters.
