Most traditional methods to teach language are purely grammar-based and the first thing that is taught is grammar. Some individuals are overwhelmed by the purely grammar-first approach. There are some who have been learning Arabic grammar for years and are still not able to comprehend simple verses of the Quran. Some abandon learning the language only because they cannot comprehend grammatical rules the way they are taught and find it very difficult. However, Allah (SWT) says in Surah Qamar, chapter 54 verses 17, 22, 32 and 40 “And indeed We have made the Quran easy.” For people who find the grammar-first approach difficult, there has to be an easy method because Allah (SWT) says it is easy. This does not mean that grammar is not required to learn a language. However, the approach that we have used in these videos is to learn the vocabulary first and learn grammatical rules while learning the language. Children learn a language in this way. No one teaches them grammatical rules. They are taught vocabulary first and they learn the language from their parents. Grammatical rules are automatically formed in the brain, such that they speak the language just as the people around them speak. Not just that, if mother speaks Russian and the father speaks English, while speaking to the mother, the child converses in Russian and with the father in English. All this occurs without any effort… like a reflex. Alhamdulillah our Creator has created our brains in a complex way, we humans cannot comprehend its functioning. For those of us who have not been able to learn the classical way and even for the first-timers, spending a few minutes will help them realize whether the methodology in these videos is suitable for them or not.
