Is Japan really safe? Everyone always asks me about my experiences being a woman in Japan and if it's really ok to keep your door unlocked, walk alone at night, getting on packed trains. As someone who did not think it would happen to me - it did and I want to make sure that anyone who moves to Japan or is thinking of traveling here is safe and know what to do in certain situations. I am not here to scare you. I am simply giving you a heads up on what you might experience here. Not everyone experiences the same thing. As long as you're aware and know your surroundings, you will be ok. Japan IS safer than most countries and despite my handful of bad experiences I still feel a sense of peace here. These things haven't happened to me for a long time and it's because I learned how to deal with these types of situations.
