We discuss what you need to know and why you might purchase a bed in a box mattress from Helix over Purple, and vice versa. Both of these are popular online mattresses with a hybrid construction (i.e. they use pocket coils). Here's an overview of each of these mattresses. Purple Mattress: This is one of the original mattress in a box brands. Purple now makes several different models. They have the Original Purple, which is about 9-10" thick and has 2" of Hyper-Elastic Polymer. They also have Purple Hybrid (used to be called New Purple 2), which adds coils and is the firmest bed the company makes. And, for a hefty price, the company also offers the New Purple Hybrid Premier, which itself is comprised of two models, the 3" and 4" model. The 3" model is fantastic, but it's hard to deny just how comfortable and unique the Purple 4 model feels. You may as well get New Purple Hybrid 3 since it's about the same feel/firmness as Purple Hybrid Premier 4, but is more affordable. If you're interested in something new, Purple makes some of the best online mattresses. They also make models for stomach sleepers, back sleepers, and side sleepers. Purple also makes some of the best cooling mattresses for hot sleepers. Helix Mattress: As interesting as Purple is as a brand, Helix is up there as well. They offer a Sleep Quiz that allows you to hone in on which is the best model for your sleeping preferences. They have six core beds, that range from a soft mattress to a firm mattress—all of which have coils. They also have two speciality models. The first is Helix Plus, which is one of the best mattresses for heavy people. They also have Birch, which is a natural and organic mattress that's meant to take on the Avocado Green Mattress. But wait, there's more! All of the core models are available in a Luxe version as well. They are called Helix Luxe, and we love these mattresses.
