The letter “L” is super difficult for some of my students, so I made this video describing how and when to make the sound. My username is @languagewithchris The letter L makes two different sounds in english: the light L and the dark L. 1. The light L sound is made when it comes before a vowel sound or before the letter "y". 2. The dark L sound is made when it comes before a consonant sound (b,c,d,f,g,h, etc.) or when it's the last sound in a word. Common mistakes with "L" 1. Moving lips and tongue at the same time (usually speakers of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Swahili make this mistake.) 2. Moving lips instead of the tongue (Brazilians do this all the time) 3. putting an "eh" sound before the "L" (Persians, this one is about you) Follow my tips from the video to correct these mistakes!
