Now that he’s front and center in the DCEU Justice League 2017, we thought it’d be a great time to explore the history of Cyborg and the evolution of Cyborg. The DC comics Cyborg origin has remained fairly constant throughout the history of the DC Cyborg. Since the original comic with the first appearance of Cyborg, The New Teen Titans, Cyborg has been one of DC’s most consistent superheroes. For Cyborg, Teen Titans is more than just a super team, they’re his family. And for Vic Stone, Cyborg, family is more important than anything. With his awesome Cyborg powers, Cyborg explained a lot about how tech-based heroes would work in the modern era. In the DC comics, Cyborg stands out from the other superpower cyborgs in comics. And when it comes to his appearances outside of comic books, Cyborg has a relatively fresh history of Cyborg in TV and film. In his Cyborg animated debut in The Super Powers Team, he was added to the ranks of the legendary Super Friends. Cyborg, Ernie Hudson providing his voice, was a solid addition to the Cyborg Superfriends roster, but the Ernie Hudson Cyborg would soon be eclipsed by a far more famous cartoon Cyborg. The Teen Titans cartoon Cyborg was one of the most iconic versions of the character, and with the Teen Titans Glen Murakami designs, Cyborg, Teen Titans animated series, and the Teen Titans in general were now a force to be reckoned with. After appearing in the follow up, Teen Titans Go, Cyborg also featured in several DC Animated movies like Justice League War, Justice League Doom, and Justice League Flashpoint, Cyborg has established himself as a member of the Justice League much like he has in the comics. So it wasn’t too surprising when Zack Snyder established that the DCEU Cyborg would be a mainstay in the DCEU Justice League movie. Before the movie, the character also made an appearance in Smallville, debuting in an self-titled episode of Smallville: Cyborg. Before Justice League, Cyborg appeared in a brief cameo in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, where we got our first glimpse of Vic Stone and the mysterious Mother Box. The Ray Fisher Cyborg doesn’t look too different from his current DC comics counterpart, and we’re excited to see how a Raymond Fisher Cyborg works as part of the larger Justice League 2017 movie.
