This is my take on what I believe (should have) happened thus far on GMW, with absolutely no “Maya became Riley” story line. - Maya didn’t become Riley. She grew. She evolved. And with that growth, she developed feelings. Maya’s feelings for Lucas were real; Lucas’ feelings for Maya were real. But, Maya loves her best friend. Maya loves Riley more than anything in the world. Maya stepped back once before, and she's stepping back again. Maya let Lucas go (again), for Riley. Because there’s nothing in this world more important to Maya than Riley’s happiness, not even her own. - Well, that's all I gotta say on this. I love the finished product and I hope you do too!
