It sure is a hard thing to wheedle down, but in this video, we’ve tried our best to come up with some of the most adorable of the totally adorable. Little Penguin You may be wondering why these cuties are called little penguins. If you haven’t quite figured it out yet, we’ll tell you; it’s because they’re tiny! They typically grow to be around 17 inches long and 13 inches in height, but those measurements are subject to change for different subspecies. They’re known by different names in different parts of the world. For example; in New Zealand, they’re often called blue penguins or little blue penguins, and in Australia, they’re commonly known as fairy penguins because they’re so small. Those places are where they’re mostly found, and there may have been some in Chile at one point. Now, why would they be called blue penguins? Again, if you haven’t figured it out, let us enlighten you; because they’re pretty darn blue in color! The blue shows up on their heads, upper parts, and their flippers. They don’t get very big; they average around 3.3 pounds and have a really short lifespan of right around 6.5 years. Us, humans, haven’t treated them very well in the past, which is hard to believe because they’re definitely some of the cuter animals around! 3. Bottlenose Dolphin Bottlenose dolphins are known for being extremely cute, extremely intelligent creatures. They’re found literally everywhere in waters around the world, except in both the Arctic and Antarctic Circle. They live in groups, and many studies have been done to test their intelligence. It has been found that they can recognize themselves, categorize objects, utilize mimicry, and use artificial language. They’ve also been shown to pass down knowledge of various things throughout generations and to use tools in a number of ways, including using marine sponges to get at food sources they wouldn’t be able to get to without. They are often curious around humans when they encounter them in the water and have been known to rescue divers by bringing them to the surface. They’ve also helped protect swimmers from shark attacks, they drive fish toward fisherman, and have even been trained to do things for both the military of Russia and the United States. They’re awesome, smart, and beautiful, and they’ve most definitely earned their spot on this list! 2. The Quokka This itty-bitty little macropod comes in at around the size of the average house cat, and they’re friendly, adorable baby vegetarians. They act a lot like cats too; they’re nocturnal, will walk right up to humans, will climb trees, and live for around ten years, which is sadly a bit shorter than a cat’s lifespan. They typically measure approximately 16 to 21 inches long and have an adorable tail that reaches between 9.8 and 11.8 inches. They’re also relatively light, between 5.5 and 11 pounds, and are built like stocky little kangaroos. You can find them on smaller islands around Australia, like Bald Island and Rottnest Island, and sometimes, if you’re lucky, you may be able to spot them in coastal and forest heath between Albany and Perth. You can also head to several local zoos around Australia to visit this beautiful creature, but interaction is more limited than finding them in the wild, and who wants that? 1...
