- Windows 8.1 Enterprise is installed into a VHD file using VirtualBox. - The 14GB static VHD file is copied unto a 16GB USB 2.0 stick (very very slow !!!) - The VHD file is added to the computer's boot-loader menu using EasyBCD - After restart the VHD file can't be booted because the driver signature verification is ON - Starting Windows 7 and turning OFF driver signature verification using the command: bcdedit -set {xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx} nointegritychecks 1 - Restart PC and boot from USB stick CONCLUSION: - Windows 8.1 Enterprise can start from a USB stick. - Use a USB 3.0 port and a high speed USB 3 stick !!! (Using a USB2.0 port and USB2.0 Stick, Windows 8.1 starts in almost 30 minutes...) --------------- To Disable Driver Signing for the current Windows use this command: bcdedit -set loadoptions ddisable_integrity_checks
