These are technical trading tips from Richard Donchian, a famous technical analyst and is known as the father of trend following. He's got some interesting rules about technical aspects of trading patterns specifically trend lines that I thought are worth sharing. Crawling along - when we have a trend environment (trend line or channel or whatever it may be) and the market starts to crawl along the upper end of the channel, expect a potential breakout of that channel. Counter Trend Break - this is actually one of my favourite strategies. Look for these and trade them in the direction. So we have a downtrend situation, we then have a counter-trend move away from the broader move. You can draw a trend line and you can sell a break of that trend line. Volume - If you're in a channel and you're testing the uppers and lowers - if you're approached the lower end of a trend line, as volume declines then its got more weight to it to buy. Watch gaps and major support/resistance levels.
