When Django Reinhardt played octaves they sounded strong and rhythmical. In this lesson I want to show you the technique of playing octaves in the gypsy jazz style. First learn where the octaves lie with your fingers and practice jumping strings from the two different positions. Then to add the power use a gypsy jazz shuffle type rhythm to play the octaves. 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 etc .... It’s all about learning and absorbing these small tasty bite size ideas into your playing.
