Comparing the fan noise between last years' PS4 Slim and the new PS4 Pro CUH 7216b. Doom and GOW are the most extreme examples where the fan noise is quite considerable. Most other games aren't as noisy on the Pro (I tried Aragami, Last of Us, Trine 3, Unravel 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Shadow of the Tomb Raider). Having said that, the base fan noise on the Pro model is still quite loud, to the point where I wouldn't want to use it as a media player anymore. The slim really is a quite machine overall and I'm totally torn between the two. Which one will I sell? EDIT july 2019: I'd like to add that I kept the pro. I stationed it behind that TV and noise is virtually a non-issue with the game sound running (and I usually keep that at a low volume as well). Less demanding games are running very silently and demanding ones don't create that much noise on the pro either. I have a silent PC gaming setup that will create the same kind of noise as well. No performance without noise and I think the current Pros do well in that department overall.
