The ability to succesfully gravure print a half tone image onto a paper substrate depends on its surface properties. The Helio test performs a contralled gravure print on the IGT Reprotester of half tone patches. The prints are evaluated by looking for missing dots either by hand or with image processing. This video was made in the laboratories of the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating, Swansea University, to demonstrate the method for performing the Helio test.
